Job summary

City of Chicago Department of Law seeks a Chief Dispatcher to oversee Aviation dispatch operations at O’Hare. The role involves directing staff, scheduling, and ensuring efficient vehicle and equipment deployment to support department operations.

The incumbent will develop procedures, monitor performance, and coordinate with management on staffing and safety protocols, including background checks and STA requirements.

Qualifications

• Four (4) years of supervisory dispatching experience or equivalent management in vehicle/road service operations.
• Experience directing staff, schedules, and disciplinary actions.
• Ability to develop SOPs and measure performance.
• Experience with HR progressive discipline mandates is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Directs dispatching operations for Aviation at O’Hare, ensuring staffing and productivity.
• Monitors resources and reallocates as needed during operations and emergencies.
• Develops protocols and SOPs for dispatching operations and monitors efficiency.
• Plans staff training on procedures, radios, and computer dispatch systems.
• Prepares productivity and operational reports for management.
