Standard Aero, Inc. is seeking an Aviation CNC Machinist for a weekend shift. You will perform setup, calibration, maintenance and operation of machining equipment to produce precise components. Cross-train in related skills to support production requirements.

You will read blueprints, compute tolerances, and verify dimensions with precision instruments. The role emphasizes safety, continuous improvement, and ability to work a weekend schedule.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum of 5 years’ experience with CNC setup and operation.
• Thorough knowledge of manufacturing, tool design, fabrication methods.
• Proficient in reading blueprints and using precision measuring instruments.

Responsibilities

• Read and interpret specifications, blueprints, templates, and layouts to determine machining operations.
• Compute dimensions and tolerances and measure/work pieces.
• Verify dimensions with calipers, gauges, and micrometers; troubleshoot and adjust as needed.
• Set up machine tools for use by operators.
• Participate in continuous improvement of cell processes.
• Cross-train in additional skills to support production requirements.
• Observe safety requirements and report unsafe conditions.

As an Aviation CNC Machinist,you’ll perform setup, calibration, maintenance and operation of machining equipment,to make complex precise cuts, bends, alignments and forms of requisite materials. Cross-trains in other complementary skills as needed to support production requirements.

What you'll do:

• Reads and interprets specification manuals, blueprints, templates and layouts to determine machining operation to be performed.
• Computes dimensions and tolerances and measures and lays out work pieces.
• Verifies dimensions of products for accuracy and conformance to specifications using precision measuring instruments such as calipers, gauges and micrometers. Troubleshoots, debugs and modifies to achieve expected performance.
• Adjusts and sets up machine tools for use by machining tool operators.
• Participates in continuous improvement of cell processes.
• Cross trains in other complementary skills and seeks endorsements for those skills as needed to support production requirements.
• Moves between production assignments that utilize multiple skills endorsements as needed to support production requirements.
• Participates in the cross training of other technicians as needed to support production requirements.
• Responsible for observing all applicable safety requirements and reporting immediately any unsafe practices/conditions.
• Carries out other duties as assigned.

What you'll need:

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum of 5 years’ experience with setup and operating CNC machines.
• High degree of mechanical aptitude, accuracy and precision.
• Thorough knowledge of manufacturing, tool design, fabrication methods
• Proficient in the use of precision measuring instruments and hand tools.
• Ability to read, understand and interpret blueprints.
• Strong mathematical aptitude.
• Working knowledge of related company instructions, company processes, rework process instructions, original equipment manufacturer manuals, and MSDS labels.
• Working knowledge of production management computer systems and other related internal control systems.
• Ability to lift up to 25 pounds (unassisted) for approximately 25% of the average workday.
• Regularly required to stand for prolonged periods. Ability to be flexible to work weekend shift hours as required.
• Must be authorized to work in the U.S.

Preferred Characteristics:

• Attainment of trade certification.
• Completion of a machinist apprenticeship program; or equivalent.
• Experienced setup and operating both Haas and Mazak CNC machines preferred.
