Job summary

Goodwyn Mills Cawood LLC in the Atlanta area seeks an Aviation Architect to lead regional airport designs, from terminals to maintenance facilities, partnering with aviation engineers and other A/E professionals to deliver practical projects.

You’ll drive design from early planning through permit, bid, and construction, build client relationships, and help grow the aviation practice with scalable solutions. Travel up to 20% and field visits are anticipated.

Qualifications

• Professional degree in Architecture.
• Architectural licensure, or a clear path toward licensure.
• 5+ years of architectural experience, preferably with aviation, transportation, public-sector, or other technically complex projects.
• Experience taking projects through multiple phases of design and documentation.
• Strong Revit and/or AutoCAD skills.
• An understanding of building codes, accessibility requirements, and construction documentation.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with engineers and other disciplines.
• The ability to manage your own work while contributing to a larger project team.
• An interest in working directly with clients and helping develop new opportunities.
• A practical, collaborative approach to design and problem solving.

Responsibilities

• Lead architectural design for regional airport projects, including terminals, hangars, administration buildings, maintenance facilities, and renovations.
• Work side-by-side with aviation, civil, structural, MEP, and other engineering disciplines to develop coordinated solutions.
• Take projects from early planning and programming through design, permitting, bidding, and construction administration.
• Develop concepts, presentations, drawings, specifications, and construction documents.
• Participate in client meetings and helping translate airport needs into buildable solutions.
• Develop an understanding of FAA, airport, building code, accessibility, and other applicable requirements.
• Visit project sites and work directly with owners, contractors, and consultants.
• Help identify opportunities with existing and prospective aviation clients.
• Contribute to the growth of our aviation practice, not simply executing work that has already been won.
