Job summary

American Sound in Madison, WI is seeking a skilled Audio‑Visual Technician to support long‑term commercial AV integration workloads across Wisconsin. This permanent, full‑time role focuses on in‑state deployments with occasional Midwest travel, working with project managers and engineers to install and support AV systems.

You will interpret schematics, terminate cables, and ensure systems meet industry standards.

Qualifications

• 1+ year of commercial AV installation experience required.
• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation to job sites.
• Ability to lift and carry equipment and work on ladders or lifts.
• Ability to interpret line drawings, schematics, and construction documents.
• Knowledge of AV cable types and signal flow (Cat5e/6, RS232, HDMI, XLR).
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.

Responsibilities

• Install AV systems including displays, projectors, audio, and control systems in commercial environments.
• Pull, terminate, and label network, audio, video, and control cables per AV standards.
• Mount and secure speakers, projectors, displays, and equipment racks.
• Coordinate with project managers, engineers, and technicians to ensure timely installation.
• Interpret AV system schematics and construction documents; troubleshoot on site.
• Maintain clean, safe work site and comply with safety procedures.
• Provide on-site client communication and progress reporting.

We are seeking a skilled and dependable Audio‑Visual Technician to support a long‑term commercial AV integration workload throughout the state of Wisconsin. This is a permanent, full‑time position supporting work — 85% or more — performed within Wisconsin, providing consistent local project deployment and long‑term stability. As part of our integration team, technicians will install and support AV systems primarily in the corporate environment. While this role is primarily in‑state, technicians may periodically travel to other Midwest job sites as business needs require. This position is ideal for technicians seeking steady, career‑oriented employment, strong project visibility, and ongoing work without the demands of a full‑time national travel schedule. The ideal candidate will have hands‑on experience with commercial AV integration and a strong understanding of system schematics and cabling.

Job Responsibilities

• Install AV systems including displays, projectors, audio systems, and control systems in commercial environments
• Pull, terminate, and label network, audio, video, and control cables according to AV standards
• Mount and secure AV hardware such as speakers, projectors, displays, and equipment racks
• Work closely with project managers, engineers, and other technicians to ensure timely and accurate installation
• Interpret and follow AV system schematics, line drawings, and construction documents
• Test and troubleshoot installed AV systems to ensure functionality and performance
• Maintain a clean and organized job site and comply with all safety procedures
• Provide on‑site support and communication with clients when needed
• Document installation progress and report to project stakeholders as required
• Ensure all work is completed to industry and company quality standards

Job Requirements

• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation for commuting to job sites
• Ability to lift, carry, bend, and work on ladders or lifts as needed
• Minimum 1 year of commercial AV integration installation experience required
• Experience working with manufacturers such as Crestron, Extron, Biamp, Qsys, Cisco, and Poly
• Ability to interpret line drawings, schematics, and construction documents
• Knowledge of common AV cable types and signal flow including Cat5e/6, RS232, HDMI, and XLR
• Strong attention to detail with the ability to troubleshoot and problem solve in the field
• Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate with a team

Job Compensation and Details

• Pay- $22-25/hr with potential bonus at year end
• Shift Time and Days- Weekdays and day shift
• When travelling- Home mostly every weekend and at least every other weekend on bigger jobs
• Travel by plane, lodging, and per diem offered
