Summary

The AV Systems Design Engineer shall design and implement solutions for corporate, educational, digital signage/IPTV, sports, and broadcast clients. The Engineer will work closely with the sales staff to provide recommendations on equipment, technologies, and implementation. Upon sale, the AV Systems Design Engineer shall coordinate system drawings, facilitate equipment release, transfer knowledge to the installation and field engineering teams, and assist as necessary for successful deployment.

Responsibilities

1. Consult with the Sales team to establish customer needs and present solutions.
2. Determine client expectations for system functionality through communication with sales and clients.
3. Recommend solutions to clients in collaboration with the sales department.
4. Design complete systems for quoting, including equipment, parts, consumables, and labor.
5. Write scopes of work to convey system expectations.
6. Respond to bid requests.
7. Assist CAD department in modeling/diagramming systems for deployment documentation.
8. Coordinate project deliverables with a project manager, including equipment release, system deployment, and project close-out.
9. Research new products to stay current on technological solutions.
10. Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Up to 30% travel, sometimes on short notice.
• Occasional evening and weekend work.

Qualifications

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Knowledge of system configurations and industry best practices.
• Understanding of audio and video design and theory.
• Experience with digital signage and IPTV systems.
• Network design and configuration knowledge.
• Self-motivated and resourceful with problem-solving skills.

Preferred Skills

• Experience with Crestron, Extron, Biamp, BSS, QSC, or similar products.
• Familiarity with AV over IP design and the OSI model.
• Knowledge of display products and systems.

Education and Experience

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum of five years relevant experience.

Computer Skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite.
• CAD, REVIT, or BIM experience preferred.
• Experience with Q360 or similar platforms preferred.

Certificates and Licenses

• Valid driver’s license.
• CTS required or to be achieved within 6 months.
• CTS-I or CTS-D preferred.

Physical Demands

• Ability to lift up to 40 lbs.
• Prolonged sitting and computer work.
• Climbing structures up to 15 feet tall.
• Ability to navigate various surfaces.
