Job Overview:
The A/V Programmer is responsible for developing and implementing control system solutions for complex A/V installations. This role requires expertise in programming A/V control systems, integrating various hardware and software components, troubleshooting issues, and ensuring seamless functionality. The ideal candidate will work closely with project managers, engineers, and technicians to deliver high-quality, customized A/V solutions tailored to meet client needs.
This role offers career progression into A/V Engineer or A/V Project Manager positions.
Responsibilities and Duties:
A/V System Programming & Integration
- Develop and program A/V control systems using Crestron (SIMPL, Crestron Python), AMX (NetLinx), Extron, and Q-SYS.
- Configure and optimize DSPs (BiAmp, QSC, BSS, etc.) for superior audio performance.
- Implement and troubleshoot A/V -over-IP solutions, including Dante, Crestron NVX, SDVoE, and NDI.
- Develop and customize user interfaces for touch panels, web applications, and mobile A/V control.
- Work closely with clients to gather requirements, define system functionality, and provide custom A/V solutions.
- Provide user training, documentation, and post-installation support to ensure smooth system operation.
- Assist in developing programming standards, templates, and best practices to enhance efficiency.
System Deployment & Troubleshooting
- Collaborate with project teams to ensure seamless integration of A/V components with control system.
- Conduct on-site and remote system commissioning, testing, and debugging to ensure reliability and performance.
- Work with IT teams to configure network settings, firmware, and VLANs for A/V system connectivity.
- Ensure all programmed solutions align with industry standards, project specifications, and client expectations.
Technical Documentation & Continuous Improvement
- Maintain detailed programming documentation, wiring schematics, and configuration records.
- Stay updated with industry advancements, emerging technologies, and firmware/software updates.
- Participate in cross-functional team discussions to share insights and improve workflows.
Qualifications:
Education & Experience
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in A/V control system programming and system integration.
- Strong knowledge of A/V control system platforms, including Crestron, AMX, Extron, and Q-SYS.
- Expertise in DSP configuration, A/V-over-IP technologies, and system networking.
- Experience working with video conferencing platforms such as Zoom, Microsoft Teams, and Cisco Webex.
- Understanding of network protocols, IP addressing, and remote A/V system diagnostics.
