GBH Archives offers a part-time paid internship for Aspire Works Internship program participants in Boston, MA. The role focuses on cataloging videos for the American Archive of Public Broadcasting, testing cataloging software, and exploring authority control with mentorship.

Qualifications

• Experience with asset management systems, databases, and/or cataloging.
• Knowledge of archival principles for arrangement, description, and access; name authority control is a plus.
• Interest in data processing or software development; Bash and Python are a plus.
• Strong attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Perform item-level cataloging of videos in the American Archive of Public Broadcasting.
• Test, compare, and evaluate new iterations of cataloging software and workflows.
• Explore large-scale authority control related to crediting contributors.
• Become acquainted with the PBCore metadata schema.
• Develop and improve Python-based tooling for viewing and analyzing catalog data.
