Job summary

The Lighthouse in Venice, CA is seeking an AV Lead Technician to manage the setup, operation, and presentation of all audio‑visual elements across our campuses and events. You will mentor the AV team, provide technical support to members and guests, collaborate with IT and Events, and help keep systems current, reliable, and welcoming for creators and partners.

Qualifications

  • A degree in a related field is a plus (not required).
  • Minimum 2 years experience in audio-visual technology, preferably in events/film/theatre.
  • Solid understanding of AV systems, consoles, lighting, projectors, and related software.
  • Strong problem-solving and communication skills, ability to work in a creative environment.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and operate audio, video, and lighting equipment across all production spaces.
  • Provide senior-level guidance, mentorship, and technical support to the AV team.
  • Set up, operate, and break down AV equipment for private events and large-scale partnerships.
  • Provide technical support to creators, members, and guests; troubleshoot and share best practices.
  • Conduct regular maintenance, repairs, and inventory checks to ensure equipment reliability.
  • Support the Production Operations Manager in executing AV designs and studio setups.
  • Collaborate with IT to troubleshoot AV/network issues and escalate as needed.
  • Serve as on-site campus supervisor for opening/closing procedures and safety reporting.
  • Work with Campus Leadership, Events, and Membership teams to support operations and demos.
  • Stay current on emerging production technologies to keep studios cutting-edge.
  • Help train and develop team members to foster a collaborative, welcoming environment.

Job Title: AV Lead Technician

Location: Venice, CA

Reports to: Studio Manager, Production Manager & Assistant General Manager

Hourly Rate: $36.00

About The Role

Audio Visual Technicians at The Lighthouse are skilled problem solvers who are passionate about content creation. In this role you will report to the Studio and Production Managers and be responsible for the setup, operation, and presentation of all AV elements found throughout The Lighthouse campus. This will include private events, large scale brand partnerships, and day to day upkeep of environmental AV elements, as well. You will interact directly with members to troubleshoot technical complications and educate them on how to use the resources available in the studios and around campus. Successful candidates will also exhibit excellent interpersonal skills and an affection for helping others.

Here’s What You’ll Do Day-to-day
  • Maintain and operate audio, video, and lighting equipment across all production studios within The Lighthouse.
  • Provide senior-level guidance, mentorship, and technical support to the AV team.
  • Set up, operate, and break down AV equipment for private and large-scale brand partnership events.
  • Provide technical support to creators, members, and guests, including equipment setup, troubleshooting, and best practices.
  • Conduct regular maintenance, repairs, and inventory checks to ensure equipment and technology remain operational and organized.
  • Support the Production Operations Manager in executing and maintaining AV designs and studio setups.
  • Work closely with IT to troubleshoot AV, network, and end-user technology issues, escalating unresolved issues as needed.
  • Serve as an on-site campus supervisor as needed, supporting opening and closing procedures, daily walkthroughs, facility security, and reporting maintenance or safety concerns.
  • Partner with Campus Leadership, Events, and Membership teams to support campus operations, events, member needs, studio tours, and demonstrations.
  • Stay current on emerging production technologies and trends to ensure The Lighthouse studios remain cutting-edge.
  • Help train and develop team members while fostering a collaborative, creative, and welcoming environment.
Here’s What We’re Looking For
  • A degree in a related field is a plus, but not required.
  • A minimum of 2 years experience in audio-visual technology, preferably in an event space, film/tv, or theater setting.
  • Solid understanding, or willingness to learn, of audio systems, consoles, lighting systems, projectors, and related software.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work in a creative environment.
  • Excellent communication.
  • Flexibility to work evenings and weekends
  • Minimum one year experience managing a team of 3 or more
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to lift equipment up to 55 lbs and work on ladders or elevated platforms.
  • Comfortable working in different environments from a theater setting to more intimate podcast studios
