Job summary

Collin County is seeking candidates for the position of Auxiliary Court Officer (Bailiff). The officer provides safety and security for the judge, courtroom staff, and others, and assists with operation and visiting judge coordination under the Local Administrative Judge.

Minimum qualifications include a high school diploma or equivalent, at least two years in law enforcement, a valid Texas Peace Officer license (TCOLE), and a valid Texas driver’s license with a good driving record.

Qualifications

• Must have at least two years of experience in law enforcement.
• Must possess and maintain a valid Texas Commission on Law Enforcement (TCOLE) Certification.
• Must possess and maintain a valid Texas Driver’s License with an acceptable driving record.

Responsibilities

• Providing safety and security for the judge, courtroom personnel, and others in the courtroom by maintaining order and security.
• Handling and controlling the court dockets and trials, schedules, caseloads, and managing juries for both the Auxiliary Court and CAC dockets.
• Coordinating jury panels by transporting jurors, assisting with seating, striking the jury list, retrieving witnesses, and maintaining security outside the jury room during deliberations.
• Researching outstanding warrants and processing defendants who do not appear. Processing all search and arrest warrant applications submitted to judge(s).
• Performing other duties as assigned or needed for efficient court management.

Collin County is seeking candidates for the position of Auxiliary Court Officer (Bailiff).
A Court Officer is responsible for, but not limited to, providing safety and security for the judge, courtroom personnel, and others in the courtroom. In addition, the Auxiliary Court Officer will assist with the management and coordination of Auxiliary court operations and visiting judges. Work is performed under the direction of the Local Administrative Judge.

Primary Functions

• Providing safety and security for the judge, courtroom personnel, and others in the courtroom by maintaining order and security. Recognizing and handling potential problems, supervising inmate movement, and making arrests when necessary.
• Handling and controlling the court dockets and trials, schedules, caseloads, and managing juries for both the Auxiliary Court and Crimes Against Children (CAC) dockets.
• Coordinating jury panels by transporting jurors, assisting with seating, striking the jury list, retrieving witnesses, and maintaining security outside the jury room during deliberations.
• Researching outstanding warrants and processing defendants who do not appear. Processing all search and arrest warrant applications submitted to judge(s).
• Performing other duties as assigned or needed for efficient court management.

Minimum Qualifications

• Must possess a level of education equivalent to four years of high school.
• Must have at least two years of experience in Law Enforcement.
• Must possess and maintain a valid Texas Commission on Law Enforcement(TCOLE) Certification.
• Must possess and maintain a valid Texas Driver’s License with an acceptable driving record.

Candidates will be required to work with the Collin County Sheriff's Office to complete the required stepsfor their TCOLE Peace Officer license to be held by the Sheriff's Office. These steps include, but are not limited to:
