Job summary

Northrop Grumman's Space Sector in Chandler, AZ, seeks a GNC Engineer: Autopilot (Level 3/4) to develop, verify, and test 6DOF simulation models and toolchains for missile flight-code evaluation.

You will apply missile flight dynamics, guidance algorithms, autopilot design, and stability analysis with hands-on C++, MATLAB and Python in a Linux environment; mentorship to junior engineers is expected.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree with 5 years of experience or advanced degrees with fewer years.
• Experience designing, tuning, and testing guidance algorithms and autopilot parameters.
• Strong understanding of missile control systems and various control theories.
• Proficient in C++, MATLAB and Python toolchains; Linux development experience.
• Willingness to travel up to 10% and obtain/maintain a U.S. Government Secret clearance.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, implement, verify, and test software and simulation toolchains.
• Create and maintain 6DOF simulation models to evaluate flight-code performance.
• Develop missile guidance algorithms and autopilot parameters and test systems.
• Advance flight dynamics knowledge using classical and modern control theory.
• Mentor early-career engineers and support program activities.
