Job summary

TAMKO is seeking a Manufacturing Data Scientist to advance AI-driven analytics across production lines in Alabama. You will design and deploy ML models, time-series analyses, and digital twins to optimize quality, safety, and productivity on the plant floor.

The role blends statistics with modern AI engineering, delivering MVPs under tight timelines while ensuring reproducibility and robust monitoring in a manufacturing environment.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics, Science, Engineering, Computer Science, Data Science, Statistics, or related field.
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in Python and SQL for data analysis, modeling, and machine learning.
  • Hands‑on experience building and validating machine learning models on tabular and time‑series data, including feature engineering and cross‑validation.
  • Understanding of applied statistics and statistical process control, with ability to perform analyses in code.
  • Production mindset with version control and reproducible, maintainable work.
  • Strong problem‑solving skills and ability to communicate findings clearly.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical procedures and literature.
  • Ability to draft reports and present information to diverse audiences.
  • Comfort delivering MVPs under tight timelines and evolving requirements.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team to drive projects to completion.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in scoping, execution, and completion of projects aligned with TAMKO’s Autopilot End State Goals.
  • Develop and deploy machine learning, predictive analytics, prescriptive analytics, including time-series anomaly detection and Digital Twins.
  • Extract, contextualize, and engineer features from plant data sources to improve model context.
  • Design and build end-to-end multi-agent solutions spanning sensing, diagnostics, actions, and outcomes.
  • Ground systems in plant knowledge with retrieval-augmented generation and source citations.
  • Deploy models to production and monitor drift, retrain as needed for reliability on the line.
  • Apply Six Sigma and statistical process control concepts in code to reduce variation and improve quality.
  • Advance solutions toward greater automation with validation, monitoring, and safeguards.
  • Perform data visualization and statistical analysis to reduce waste and improve uptime and quality.
  • Critically evaluate methods and vendor claims, validating against baselines before production deployment.
  • Present findings and recommendations to peers and executives with business value in cost, scrap, uptime, and risk.
