Uber is seeking a Senior Staff Vehicle Engineer to lead safety-critical vehicle integrations for its AV initiatives in Sunnyvale, CA. You will act as an OEM liaison, shape vehicle interfaces, and translate safety standards into concrete hardware requirements.

You'll collaborate with cross-functional teams to define architecture, sensor suites, and compute platforms, ensuring robust, scalable solutions for real-world autonomous operations.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of experience in automotive engineering, hardware systems design, or robotics hardware development.
• Direct OEM experience or extensive collaboration with automotive OEMs.
• Expertise in automotive functional safety standards (ISO 26262).
• Strong hardware systems engineering and vehicle electrical architectures knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Lead multi-partner alignment and act as primary technical advocate for AV partners with OEMs.
• Translate safety concepts into detailed engineering specifications for vehicle hardware.
• Define interfaces and architecture for autonomous systems, sensor suites, and compute platforms.
• Collaborate with product and design teams to align user experience with vehicle requirements.
