Job summary

HavocAI, a Providence, RI-based leader in autonomous systems, is seeking a Test Engineer to plan, execute, and validate testing of ASV platforms and autonomy software. This role collaborates with hardware, software, and mission operations teams across dockside, sea trials, and field deployments.

You will gather telemetry, analyze data, and produce reports that drive engineering decisions, while ensuring safety and reliability in dynamic maritime environments; must be hands-on, detail-oriented,

Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience in test engineering and systems integration.
• Experience with embedded systems and mechanical, electrical, and software domains.
• Ability to troubleshoot complex integrated systems.
• Familiarity with CAN, UDP, and TCP/IP protocols.
• Experience with autonomous or remotely operated systems.
• Strong analytical and documentation skills.
• Willingness to work in marine environments and travel up to 50%.
• U.S. Citizenship and ability to obtain DoD Secret clearance.

Responsibilities

• Develop, document, and execute test plans for mechanical, electrical, software, and integrated systems across ASV platforms.
• Define test objectives, success criteria, configurations, and data requirements with engineering teams.
• Support testing across development lifecycle from component validation to full-system testing.
• Identify test gaps and develop new approaches to improve system validation and coverage.
• Test and evaluate autonomy algorithms, control systems, sensors, and vehicle behaviors in real-world maritime environments.
• Verify system performance across navigation, communications, propulsion, perception, and onboard systems.
• Partner with teams to integrate and validate new capabilities and system updates.
• Document failures, findings, corrective actions and recommendations.
