Job summary

AZAK in Denver, CO is seeking a Lead Ground Autonomy Engineer to own on-vehicle autonomy software across the full stack—from control and motion planning to perception integration and mission execution.

You will lead an on-site team, drive architecture decisions, and collaborate with embedded systems and hardware teams to deliver mission-ready autonomous ground systems under real-world conditions.

Qualifications

• Engineering experience with robotics or autonomous ground systems.
• Expertise in autonomy software, motion planning, controls, and real-world integration.
• Ability to think non-traditionally and optimize lightweight modular systems.
• Comfort with ambiguity and rapid priority shifts; build structure where none exists.

Responsibilities

• Own the on-vehicle autonomy stack from control to perception and mission execution.
• Lead architecture decisions and mentor teammates across integrated hardware and software teams.
• Develop and evaluate drive-by-wire control, trajectory generation, and vehicle dynamics models.
• Design modular autonomy stacks and efficient perception pipelines for lightweight solutions.
• Plan field tests, analyze logs, and establish performance metrics for deployed systems.
• Engage with customers and operators to translate mission needs into capabilities.
