Job summary

Atoms in San Francisco is seeking a Robotics Engineer to advance autonomy on real vehicles, focusing on system-level debugging and end-to-end feature delivery. You will develop, test, and deploy autonomous truck features and serve as a technical lead during bring-ups and deployments.

Ideal candidates have 2+ years of robotics software experience, strong multi-language skills, and proven field-deployment work.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of professional software development experience.
• Strong programming skills in Python, C++, Java, or C# with object-oriented design.
• Proven robotics engineering experience with system-level ownership (integration, debugging, field support, or deployments).
• Ability to design and debug software systems with diagnostics that scale beyond a single vehicle.
• Knowledge of core robotics concepts and math (state estimation, localization, planning, controls).
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills; able to lead technical projects.

Responsibilities

• Develop, integrate, and validate autonomy features (software + tests) for real-world autonomous vehicle operation.
• Own system-level debugging across sensors, compute, networking, controls, and software stacks.
• Lead technical execution for deployments: bring-up plans, requirements, risks, and fixes with engineering & operations.
• Support field deployments, including travel to customer sites and on-vehicle debugging.
• Bring up and integrate new truck platforms with hardware teams to calibrate systems and tune performance.
• Collaborate across disciplines to deliver robust, safe autonomy behavior.
• Travel up to 10% to customer sites.
• Schedule flexibility during deployments.
