Job summary

Waymo is seeking a software engineer to work in a hybrid role on the Waymo Driver for Level 4 autonomous driving. You will help frame real-world problems into well-defined engineering tasks, build tools and algorithms, and deploy them in real-time on vehicles, collaborating with cross-functional teams.

The role requires a BS in Computer Science, ML, Robotics or related field (or equivalent experience) and 3+ years of C++ software engineering.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, ML, Robotics or related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 3+ years general software engineering experience with C++ and efficient code.
• Experience collaborating with different teams.

Responsibilities

• Work with a creative team to ensure car behavior is safe, smooth, and predictable to others on the road; handle complex situations with noisy or incomplete information.
• Frame open-ended problems into well-defined engineering tasks; develop tools and algorithms; scale to large data pipelines and real-time car deployment.
