Job summary

Gander Robotics Inc. is seeking a Robotics Software Engineer to advance autonomous maritime systems. You will develop software across autonomy, controls, sensing, and embedded hardware, primarily in C++ and Python, and validate it on real vehicles and field tests.

You will write software for embedded platforms, integrate with hardware, and collaborate with hardware teams to deliver reliable, field-ready systems. This role offers ownership and rapid iteration in a hands-on startup environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field.
• Strong programming in C++ and Python.
• Experience with Linux environments and Git workflows.
• Familiarity with robotics middleware (MOOS-IvP or equivalent).
• Experience with sensors, actuators, and embedded systems.
• US citizenship or eligibility for security clearance.

Responsibilities

• Develop and integrate software for autonomous underwater and surface vehicles.
• Build autonomy behaviors, mission planning, state machines, and system-level controllers.
• Integrate sensors, actuators, communications systems, and vehicle hardware.
• Develop operator interfaces and tools for mission planning and vehicle control.
• Build and test software on embedded and single-board computers.
• Debug problems across software, electronics, communications, and hardware.
• Participate in vehicle integration, field testing, and iterative development.
