Cyngn, Inc. in Mountain View, CA is seeking a Software Engineer, Autonomy focusing on Calibration, Localization & Mapping (CLAM).

You will implement and tune mapping, localization, and sensor calibration algorithms for production-grade autonomous vehicle software while collaborating with vehicle infrastructure, hardware, QA, and other autonomy teams to ensure safe, efficient driving. The role targets early-career engineers with strong robotics fundamentals, and offers growth through mentorship,

Qualifications

• BS or MS in robotics, computer science, electrical engineering (MS a plus).
• Solid foundation in probability theory, linear algebra, 3D geometry, and spatial coordinate transformations.
• Experience with 3D Lidar-based mapping and localization concepts (LOAM, GICP, FastLIO, bundle-adjustment).
• Exposure to state estimation frameworks such as EKFs or nonlinear optimization libraries (GTSAM, G2O, Ceres-Solver).
• 2–4 years building robotics or autonomous vehicle software; proficiency in C++ and Python; unit testing and code reviews.

Responsibilities

• Implement, tune, and test mapping, localization, and sensor calibration algorithms for autonomous vehicle platforms using C++ and Python.
• Contribute to tooling and metrics for performance validation and testing frameworks.
• Debug and analyze algorithm performance with real-world and simulated data; iterate based on vehicle tests.
• Balance tasks, code reviews, and learning to meet product milestones in a fast-paced startup.
