Job summary

Nuro is seeking a safety-focused software engineer in Mountain View to own robotics safety protections within the autonomy stack and to lead root-cause analysis and deployment across systems.

The role requires advanced robotics/CS degrees and 5+ years of real-world robotics safety experience, along with strong C++ skills. You will mentor engineers and collaborate with AI, eval, and operations teams to enable safer, scalable autonomy.

Qualifications

• BS/MS/PhD in Robotics, CS, EE/ME/AE or related field.
• 5+ years building safety-critical motion planning or controls for real robots/vehicles.
• Strong C++ and solid math/physics background.

Responsibilities

• Own the core logic and software implementation for robotics safety protections in the autonomy stack.
• Be the primary POC for solving real world autonomy issues, including root cause analysis and testing and deployment.
• Lead and grow a technical team dedicated to this problem area.
• Work cross-functionally with AI modeling teams, eval, systems, and operations.
