Job summary

AeroVironment, Inc. is seeking a skilled professional to advance computer vision and machine learning for group 1 UAV payloads. You will develop algorithms to detect and track objects, integrate ML into autopilots and payloads, and explore data to drive improvements.

Qualifications

• BS in Computer Vision and Machine Learning or equivalent with related fields (Math, Optimization, CS/Engineering, EE, Aerospace, or Mechanical).
• 2–5 years of relevant experience.
• Familiarity with C/C++ and Matlab.
• Proficiency with a deep learning framework such as TensorFlow or Keras.
• Proficiency with Python and libraries like scikit-learn and pandas.
• Expertise in visualizing and manipulating big datasets.
• Familiarity with Linux.

Responsibilities

• Develop computer vision and ML algorithms to detect, classify, localize, and track objects from a UAV camera payload.
• Write and test software for integrating ML into aircraft systems or other robotic platforms.
• Explore and visualize data to understand distributions and differences.
• Implement ML systems and validate designs through experiments.
• Develop models with clear objectives and metrics.
• Analyze ML algorithms and rank by effectiveness for real-world deployment.
• Ensure data quality and perform data cleaning.
• Study and transform data science prototypes and run ML tests and experiments.
• Select datasets and data representations; run tests.
• Collaborate within defined procedures and assist with deadlines.
• Other duties as assigned.
