Job summary

FALCATA is seeking a Spacecraft GNC Engineer to support work at the Naval Research Laboratory. This position offers the opportunity to directly impact high-priority Navy missions.

The GNC Engineer will perform analysis and design of systems for Guidance, Navigation, and Control of space vehicles, including architecture of guidance and pointing, Monte Carlo analysis of clusters, and development of GNC algorithms, with collaboration with ML and autonomy experts for autonomous operations.

Qualifications

• U.S. Citizenship and an active Secret clearance (TS/SCI preferred).
• Preferred 2 years of experience in spacecraft/robotic arm control systems.
• Knowledge of spacecraft stability analysis, quaternions, attitude determination and control, and control algorithms.
• Experience with trajectory modeling and free-body modeling.
• Knowledge of state estimation techniques such as Kalman filtering.
• Strong proficiency with MATLAB and Simulink.
• Excellent communication, collaboration and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Perform analysis and design of GNC systems for space vehicles.
• Architect guidance and pointing system solutions for space vehicles.
• Conduct Monte Carlo analysis of space vehicle clusters.
• Develop GNC algorithms and collaborate with ML/autonomy experts for autonomous operations.
• Analyze momentum-exchange devices, reaction control systems, IMUs and optical guidance systems.
