Job summary
Caterpillar Inc. in Irving, TX is seeking a Connectivity Systems Engineer to lead the design, development, testing, deployment, and support of telemetry and connectivity solutions across machine, site, edge, and cloud environments.
You will mentor engineers, drive architecture reviews, and collaborate with product teams to translate business needs into scalable, secure technical solutions, while advancing data pipelines and industrial IoT initiatives.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field.
- 5+ years of experience in software engineering, connectivity engineering, network engineering, cloud engineering, or distributed systems.
- Experience with satellite communications (Starlink), LTE/LTE‑M/NB‑IoT, and 5G.
- Experience designing and supporting large‑scale data pipelines.
Responsibilities
- Leads the design, development, testing, deployment, and support of connectivity solutions across machine, site, edge, and cloud environments.
- Develops software and infrastructure supporting machine telemetry, remote monitoring, autonomous operations, and digital services.
- Evaluates and implements connectivity technologies including cellular (LTE/5G), Starlink, Wi‑Fi, edge computing, and industrial networking solutions.
- Designs reliable and scalable telemetry and data transport architectures from machines and edge devices to enterprise cloud platforms.
