Job summary
Saildrone is seeking a Vehicle Software Engineer to develop production C software for onboard autonomous vessels. You will work at the intersection of software and hardware, integrating sensors and subsystems and supporting field deployments and troubleshooting.
You will collaborate across power, propulsion, and vehicle control systems, diagnosing issues with telemetry and logs, and ensuring reliable operation in remote environments.
Qualifications
- Proficient in production-ready C software for embedded systems.
- Experience with sensors, actuators, or physical systems.
- Strong ability to debug using logs, telemetry, and real-world data.
- Experience deploying software on physical products in field operations.
- Ability to reason about software/hardware interactions within larger systems.
Responsibilities
- Develop production C software for onboard autonomous vessels.
- Integrate sensors and subsystems into the onboard software stack.
- Interface with power, battery-management, propulsion and control systems.
- Diagnose complex issues using telemetry, logs, tests, and field investigation.
- Develop software for vehicle configuration, deployment, upgrades, and fleet migration.
- Validate integrations on real vehicles to improve reliability in operations.
