About the Opportunity
We are seeking a Vehicle Testing Specialist to support daily live testing programs for a leading autonomous vehicle (AV) and ADAS software organization in Sunnyvale.
In this role, you will be on the front lines of autonomous development-working directly with development vehicles, executing test plans, and collaborating closely with software engineering and operations teams. You will play a critical role in translating real-world, hands-on vehicle observations into actionable technical feedback that directly shapes the future of autonomy software.
Key Responsibilities
- Test Plan Execution: Safely and efficiently execute comprehensive test plans on AV and ADAS development vehicles.
- Engineering Collaboration: Work closely with software engineers and operations teams to coordinate, refine, and optimize vehicle testing procedures.
- Technical Reporting: Maintain detailed testing logs, document anomalies, and deliver clear, structured technical feedback on software and hardware performance.
- Vehicle Preparation: Prepare development vehicles for daily testing activities, ensuring both software systems and sensor hardware are fully configured.
- Safety & Operations: Serve as a safety champion across all vehicle testing activities, collaborating with vehicle operators to maintain professional and safe operating protocols.
Required Qualifications
- Hands-on Experience: 2+ years of technical hardware/software testing, data logging, or hands-on AV/ADAS/automotive testing experience (Required).
- Sensor Hardware Knowledge: Strong working knowledge of common autonomous vehicle sensors (Cameras, Radar, LiDAR, GPS/IMU) and their roles within an autonomous stack.
- Troubleshooting Ability: Proven ability to diagnose and distinguish between hardware issues (e.g., sensor calibration, physical connections) vs. software issues (e.g., feature behavior, build anomalies).
- Technical Communication: Excellent documentation skills and the ability to articulate complex technical observations clearly to engineering teams.
- Work Authorization: Must be authorized to work in the U.S. on a W2 basis without requiring sponsorship (C2C is not permitted).
Preferred Qualifications
- Familiarity with Linux environments and command-line interfaces.
- Experience utilizing collaboration and issue-tracking tools such as Jira, Confluence, Slack, and Google Workspace.
- Familiarity with standard software development and release cycles.
