Russell Tobin is hiring Safety Drivers to support testing and development of autonomous vehicles in Austin, Texas. You’ll help test next-generation vehicles on real-world roads while gaining hands-on experience in an innovative industry.

In this full-time role, you will alternate between manual driving and supervising autonomous mode, monitor traffic and vehicle performance, and collaborate with remote operators and engineering teams.

Qualifications

• Valid U.S. driver’s license with 3+ years of driving experience.
• Strong driving skills and excellent situational awareness.
• Excellent judgment and attention to detail.
• Comfortable driving in varying weather and road conditions.
• Reliable, professional and dependable.
• Comfortable using technology and following detailed procedures.

Responsibilities

• Safely operate autonomous vehicles during on-road testing.
• Alternate between manual driving and supervising autonomous mode.
• Monitor traffic, road conditions, vehicle and environment.
• Identify hazards and respond quickly and safely.
• Work with remote operators and engineering teams.
• Perform vehicle safety checks before and after shifts.
• Collect driving and vehicle performance data.
• Document observations and testing activities.
• Assist with basic technical tasks, hardware adjustments, and software uploads.
• Support basic troubleshooting as needed.
