Job summary

Forterra is seeking a Systems Architect to own the architecture, requirements, and integration/test work on our vehicle platforms. You will bridge mechanical, electrical, and software disciplines while integrating COTS actuation and sensing systems.

You will define interfaces, write ICDs, develop test plans, and collaborate across teams to deliver robust, safe, and extensible vehicle systems. A strong background in MBSE, CAD, and scripting (Python) is valued.

Qualifications

6+ years of hands-on systems integration and test engineering experience.
BS in Electrical/Computer/Mechanical/Aerospace Engineering or related field, or equivalent hands-on experience.
Ability to work across mechanical, electrical, and software disciplines and communicate credibly.
Experience writing and tracing system requirements on formal programs.
Willingness to work hands-on with hardware in lab and field environments.

Responsibilities

Own high-level system architecture for vehicle subsystems and their interfaces.
Define requirements and tradeoffs for overall system design decisions.
Collaborate with hardware and software leads to mature architectures.
Write, maintain, and trace system requirements through integration and test.
Develop ICDs and interface documents to support safety analysis.
Integrate COTS actuation and sensing onto vehicles; design custom solutions when needed.
Troubleshoot cross-domain integration issues in lab and on vehicle platforms.
