Job summary

The Urgent Care in Greater New Orleans, Louisiana, seeks an experienced Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner to join a five-location, walk-in urgent care network. Roles include full-time or part-time, with shift-based responsibilities and strong clinical autonomy.

Candidates must have PA or NP credentials, current Louisiana licenses, and active/obtained DEA and prescriptive authority. A collaborative team supports high-volume, procedural care across locations.

Qualifications

• Two years of PA or NP practice in urgent care, emergency medicine, family medicine, or primary care; three+ years preferred.
• Current BLS/CPR, ACLS, and PALS certifications.
• Active DEA registration and Louisiana prescriptive authority, or ability to obtain both.
• Proficiency in minor procedures and interpretation of diagnostic studies.
• Reliable transportation and willingness to travel among clinic locations.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care, including assessment, physical examination, diagnosis, and treatment.
• Order and interpret diagnostic studies, including radiographs, ECGs, and laboratory testing.
• Perform laceration repair, incision and drainage, splinting, and wound care.
• Prescribe medications and develop treatment plans per guidelines.
• Document patient encounters in EMR and maintain timely records.
• Communicate diagnoses, treatment plans, and follow-up instructions clearly.
• Collaborate with supervising physician and clinic teams for continuity of care.
• Rotate among clinic locations across the Greater New Orleans area as assigned.

Education

ARC-PA accredited Physician Assistant program

Louisiana Physician Assistant license in good standing

Nurse Practitioner program (MSN or DNP)

Louisiana RN and APRN licensure in good standing

Board certification as a Family Nurse Practitioner (ANCC or AANP)

Collaborative practice agreement per Louisiana State Board of Nursing requirements
