Job summary

Heaviside Industries seeks a driven engineer to own testing of advanced autonomous undersea systems, from planning to delivery. You will design and execute test campaigns, procure or fabricate required equipment, and manage logistics, budgets, and safety for complex maritime deployments.

The role emphasizes independent ownership of technical work, adherence to ITAR/compliance, and collaboration with production teams to meet project timelines.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in an engineering discipline (mechanical, ocean, electrical, etc.).
• Minimum 3 years of experience testing complex systems, especially AUVs/UUVs, ROVs, unmanned surface vessels, sonar or maritime defense products.
• Comfort working independently and owning timelines and budgets for complex test campaigns.
• Familiarity with designing and fabricating test equipment, including pressure vessels, waterproofing and sealing aspects.

Responsibilities

• Own the testing process from planning to product delivery for advanced autonomous undersea systems.
• Plan and manage test campaigns, including requirements gathering and verification.
• Acquire or fabricate equipment to execute tests and maintain inventory of test gear.
• Direct and execute test operations from lab to open-water verification.
• Coordinate on-water test logistics, vessels, range ops, tracking and comms.
