Job summary

Penn State University’s Applied Research Laboratory (ARL) seeks experienced Software Engineers to design, develop, and test autonomous vehicle guidance software for the USO. You will work in a team to implement algorithms for sensing, tracking, and control, with interface work to hardware subsystems.

This on-site role in State College, PA, may require travel to remote sites and potential security clearance; ARL emphasizes DoD collaboration and rigorous software development practices.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering or science.
• 14+ years of relevant experience (if Senior) or related roles.
• Active security clearance preferred or ability to obtain one.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, integrate, and test software for autonomous vehicle guidance and control.
• Design algorithms for signal processing, detection, classification, tracking and decision-making; interface with hardware subsystems.
• Collaborate within a team to integrate and test the software system and generate documentation.
