Job Description

The Guidance and Control Technologies Division of the Applied Research Laboratory (ARL) at Penn State University is seeking undergraduate students for internship opportunities. ARL/Penn State’s purpose is to develop innovative solutions to challenging national problems in support of the Navy, DoD, and Intel communities engineering and technology needs. ARL is an authorized DoD SkillBridge partner and welcomes all transitioning military members to apply.

Responsibilities

• Research, develop, analyze, implement, and test new capabilities for current and future autonomous undersea systems.

Qualifications

• Students studying Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Applied Mathematics, Data Science, or Physics.
• Experience or interest in signal/image processing, object tracking, autonomous control, software development, artificial intelligence, and/or machine learning (deep learning/reinforcement learning).
• Experience with MATLAB, C/C++, and/or Python preferred.

Work Hours, Compensation, and Location

• Up to 20 hours/week during the fall and spring semesters and 40 hours/week over the summer.
• This is a paid internship located at ARL's Science Park Building in State College, PA; relocation and housing are not provided.
