Job summary

Scientific Applications & Research Associates, Inc. (SARA) in Colorado Springs, CO, seeks a Machine Learning Systems Engineer (UAS) to advance unmanned navigation, autonomous flight, and AI edge processing.

You will integrate PX4/ArduPilot flight controllers, enable ROS/MAVLink communication, and optimize AI on Jetson platforms. The role involves cross‑disciplinary collaboration with hardware, software, and AI teams to push autonomous aerial technology from concept to deployment in DoD/DoE

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Robotics, Electrical or Aerospace Engineering or related field.
• 2+ years of UAS/robotics or embedded systems experience or internships.
• Foundational programming skills in C++ and/or Python.
• Familiarity with PX4, ArduPilot, MAVLink, ROS or UAV flight controllers.
• Ability to troubleshoot, document results, and work in a multi-disciplinary team.

Responsibilities

• Configure and integrate flight controllers (PX4/ArduPilot) with UAV platforms.
• Develop software for flight control, sensor processing, and Jetson AI systems.
• Integrate ROS and MAVLink between hardware and ground control.
• Deploy AI models on NVIDIA Jetson platforms and perform real-time inference.
