Job summary

Zoox seeks an Engineering Manager to lead a verification and validation team evaluating the safety performance of our autonomous mobility systems. You will oversee a 5+ engineer V&V team, guiding career growth and driving end-to-end validation from simulation to on-road testing.

You will mentor staff, define metrics, and collaborate with perception, planning, controls, and safety teams to accelerate rigorous validation while maintaining a strong safety case.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of industry experience with vehicle or complex system validation.
• 2+ years of experience leading direct reports.
• Experience developing integration and test plans for safety-critical robotics or autonomous systems.
• Demonstrated ability to operate in an agile environment.

Responsibilities

• Directly manage and grow a team of 5+ V&V systems engineers, providing mentorship and career guidance.
• Develop, own, and execute end-to-end V&V strategy for the AV's behavioral competencies from simulation to on-road validation.
• Drive metrics, data extractors, and statistical methods to form objective conclusions about AV performance.
• Collaborate with perception, planning, controls, and safety to create tests across validation pipelines.
• Lead planning, execution, and timeline delivery of vehicle tests with cross-functional coordination.
• Deliver robust validation evidence and provide data-driven feedback to development teams.
• Maintain traceability between requirements, tests, and results for the safety case.
• Propose and implement process improvements to accelerate test iteration.
