Job summary

CommonSpirit Health is seeking an Operating Engineer to independently handle journeyman-level duties across the energy plant and hospital facilities. You will design, install, and maintain building systems, monitor equipment, and propose solutions to improve performance and safety.

You will operate boilers, chillers, absorbers, and building control systems, ensuring energy efficiency and occupant comfort while adhering to high safety standards.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• 5+ years of work experience in power plant operating or completion of a four year apprenticeship in power plant operation or equivalent.
• Boiler Operator certification in AR within 12 months is required.

Responsibilities

• Operates high-pressure boilers to ensure safe, reliable energy supply.
• Operates chillers and absorbers for temperature control and efficiency.
• Compiles water treatment reports for system maintenance.
• Performs maintenance on boilers, chillers, pumps, steam pipes, and related equipment.
• Operates automated building control computer and makes necessary corrections.
• Operates and adjusts air handling equipment to maintain comfort and safety.
