Job summary

Purdue University is seeking an engineer to lead the creation of autonomous experimental workflows in the Manufacturing and Materials Research Laboratory, aiming for full lab autonomy and cloud-connected data tools within three years.

The role involves oversight of design, fabrication, and implementation, plus mentoring students and collaborating with AI/ML and digital teams. Strong background in manufacturing/robotics is expected.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree with 5 years of experience in manufacturing, robotics, or related fields
• Equivalencies may be accepted (Associates + 8 years, Master's + 3 years, PhD + 1-2 years)
• Preferred: Master's and 3 years or PhD and 1-2 years in manufacturing/robotics

Responsibilities

• Provide project oversight and hands-on work for autonomous workflows
• Operate equipment and perform experiments for internal and external users
• Mentor postdocs, graduate students, and undergraduate students
• Participate in weekly meetings and assist in writing reports
