Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited physical therapy assistant program.
• Current certification or license as required by state law.
• Possesses and maintains current CPR certification.
• Must be a licensed driver with a vehicle insured as required by state or organization requirements.

Responsibilities

• Provides direct physical therapy under the direction of the physical therapist.
• Treats patient to relieve pain and improve function.
• Guides patients in active and passive exercises and gait training.
• Uses heat, cold, water, light, electricity, ultrasound, and massage as appropriate.
• Observes patient responses and reports changes to the PT.
• Instructs patients in use of wheelchairs, braces, crutches, canes, prosthetics, or orthotics.
• Maintains clinical notes and patient records within required timeframes.
• Participates in team meetings and inservice education.
