Job summary

Overland AI seeks a field-forward infrastructure engineer to deploy, configure, operate and iterate on autonomous ground-vehicle support systems across real operational environments – military exercises, demonstrations, test sites and integration events.

This role spans infrastructure, software delivery, networking, and automation, with up to 50% travel to test sites and customer locations. You’ll collaborate across software, hardware, and autonomy teams.

Qualifications

• 3+ years in network engineering, systems engineering, field communications, or systems integration in defense or robotics.
• Experience deploying and troubleshooting Linux-based field systems.
• Hands-on with tactical mesh radio systems and SD-WAN/adaptive networking.
• Strong understanding of VPNs, firewalls, routing, logging, and monitoring.
• Experience deploying AWS infra and Linux-based production systems.
• Ability to work independently in harsh environments and travel up to 50%.

Responsibilities

• Deploy and manage infrastructure to improve reliability and incident response in field environments.
• Configure Linux-based servers, edge compute platforms, containers, and VMs.
• Set up and sustain tactical mesh networks and multi‑vendor environments.
• Configure SD‑WAN and adaptive networking solutions.
• Integrate networking across cloud and partner platforms.
• Manage VPNs, tunnels, and jump hosts across field sites.
• Troubleshoot networking, RF, and integration issues during live deployments.
• Document architectures and provide recommendations to improve readiness.
• Train operators on network behavior and troubleshooting procedures.
• Collaborate with software, hardware, and autonomy engineers for seamless integration.
• Build tooling with Terraform, Ansible, and Python to boost productivity.
