Job summary

Kingfisher Recruiting partners with an established California law firm to seek a California-licensed Attorney specializing in civil litigation and creditors' rights. The role blends courtroom representation with document review, signing, case oversight, and settlement negotiations.

The ideal candidate will appear in court, manage a high volume of filings, and work independently with a seasoned support team.

Qualifications

Active California law license required.
5–7 years in civil litigation, preferably including collections/creditors' rights.
Experience appearing in court and handling hearings independently.
Strong understanding of civil litigation procedures and filings.
Ability to review and sign a high volume of documents accurately.
Demonstrated negotiation and settlements skills.
Experience coaching or mentoring colleagues.
Excellent written and verbal communication and organizational skills.
Proficiency with MS Office, online research tools, and legal tech.

Responsibilities

Represent clients in court hearings and other civil litigation proceedings.
Review, approve, and sign a high volume of pleadings, motions, and documents.
Manage litigation matters and ensure California court rule compliance.
Review discovery materials, evaluate case information, and determine actions.
Negotiate settlements with self-represented litigants and opposing counsel.
Prepare and file legal documents and oversee timely filings.
Communicate with Managing Attorney, clients, and staff on case progress.
Conduct legal research and evaluate potential outcomes using statutes and precedents.
Coordinate with outside counsel and other legal professionals as needed.
Assist with litigation-related client audits and compliance requirements.
Stay informed of changes in state and federal debt collection laws.
Provide guidance and mentorship to colleagues when appropriate.
Maintain accurate case records and manage deadlines across matters.
