Job summary

ECU Health Roanoke-Chowan Hospital in Ahoskie, NC seeks an experienced anesthesiologist to conduct evaluations, develop anesthesia plans, and supervise CRNAs. Expect autonomy with supportive colleagues across the East Carolina Anesthesia group, in a rural 114-bed facility. Weekend on-call and teaching opportunities available.

The role emphasizes patient safety, high-quality perioperative care, and collaboration with surgical teams in diverse outpatient procedures.

Qualifications

• MD or DO degree from accredited medical school.
• Board certification or eligibility in anesthesiology (BC/BE).
• NC state medical license required.
• Minimum 3+ years experience in anesthetics in high acuity or similar setting.

Responsibilities

• Prepares and administers general and regional anesthetics and pain medication.
• Provides anesthesia maintenance and adjustment during procedures.
• Orders diagnostic tests as needed.
• Supervises CRNAs and other staff; mentors residents and fellows.
• Performs tracheal intubation and airway management.
• Monitors fluid, blood, and electrolyte balance during procedures.
• Ensures safe post-anesthesia recovery and communication with patients and families.
