Job summary

Capital Auto Group is seeking an Automotive Used Car Technician in Wilmington, NC. You will inspect, diagnose, maintain, and repair pre-owned vehicles to ensure safety and reliability for the next owner.

Ideal candidates have experience with pre-owned inspections, strong diagnostic skills, and training in automotive technology. ASE certifications are preferred but not required. This role emphasizes teamwork, quality workmanship, and safety.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine maintenance such as oil changes, tires, and brakes.

• Collaborate with service team to keep reconditioning on schedule.

Are you a hands-on automotive technician who knows how to bring apre-owned vehicle back to its best? CAPITAL is looking for a skilled Automotive Used Car Technician to join our team! In this role, you’ll inspect, diagnose, maintain, and repair pre-owned vehicles to help ensure they’re safe, reliable, and ready for their next owner. What You’ll Be Doing

• Inspect pre-owned vehicles to evaluate their overall condition and identify needed repairs.

• Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and safety concerns using industry-standard tools and equipment.

• Troubleshoot and repair vehicle systems, including engines, transmissions, brakes, suspension, and electrical components.

• Perform routine maintenance, including oil changes, tire rotations, brake service, and other preventative maintenance.

• Document inspection findings, recommended repairs, and completed work accurately.

• Complete quality checks to ensure vehicles meet safety, reliability, and dealership standards.

• Work collaboratively with the service team to keep vehicles moving efficiently through the reconditioning process.

• Follow established safety procedures and maintain a clean, organized work area.

What We’re Looking For

• Previous experience as an automotive technician, ideally working with pre-owned vehicle inspections, reconditioning, and repairs.

• Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting skills with a solid understanding of automotive systems.

• Technical or vocational training in automotive technology is a plus.

• ASE certifications are preferred but not required.

• Ability to work on a variety of makes and models.

• A strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.

• A team-first mindset, with a willingness to share knowledge and support fellow technicians.

• A commitment to workplace safety and professional standards.

• Ability to successfully complete required pre-employment screenings.
