Job summary

Generation Auto Group is seeking a Used Car Technician for Autoworld Kia in East Meadow, NY. You will inspect, diagnose, repair, maintain, and recondition used and certified pre-owned vehicles to meet dealership, manufacturer, and safety standards before listing for sale.

Job Location: Autoworld Kia - East Meadow, NY 11554

Salary Range: $30.00 - $45.00 Hourly

As a Used Car Technician at Autoworld Kia, part of the Generation Auto Group, you will inspect, diagnose, repair, maintain, and recondition used and certified pre-owned vehicles to ensure they meet dealership, manufacturer, and safety standards before being offered for sale. This role involves performing multi-point inspections, mechanical repairs, preventative maintenance, electrical and drivability diagnostics, brake and suspension repairs, steering, engine, transmission, HVAC, and routine maintenance services on a wide variety of vehicle makes and models.

As an essential member of our Used Car Department, you will identify needed repairs, accurately document findings, complete work efficiently, and help maintain inventory readiness. Your technical expertise, attention to detail, and commitment to quality ensure every pre-owned vehicle is safe, reliable, and retail-ready, while supporting customer satisfaction and dealership performance.

What You’ll Be Doing:

The primary functions of this role include, but are not limited to:

• Used Vehicle Inspection & Reconditioning
• Perform comprehensive inspections on all incoming used and pre-owned vehicles.
• Identify mechanical, electrical, and safety-related issues and complete necessary repairs.
• Recondition vehicles to dealership and manufacturer standards for resale.
• Perform New York State inspections
• Ensure all vehicles are road-ready, safe, and compliant prior to sale, including routine services such as oil changes, tires, brakes, fluids, filters, batteries, and alignments.
• Test-drive vehicles as needed to verify repairs and overall performance.
• Accurately document all inspections, repairs, and reconditioning work performed.
• Complete multi-point inspections and clearly note required and completed repairs.
• Communicate repair needs, delays, or additional findings to management promptly.

What We’re Looking For:

• Hold a valid and clean driver’s license
• New York State Inspector’s License
• Punctual, reliable, and self-motivated
• Able to stand for 6-8 hours per day
• Able to bend, stretch, reach, climb, and lift up to 70 lbs
• Own a complete set of tools and toolbox
• Proficient with diagnostic tools, shop equipment and tablet-based applications
• Comfortable using computer software and dealership systems (DMS)
• Strong problem-solving skills with excellent attention to detail
• Clear verbal and written communication skills
• Professional appearance and demeanor
• Flexible schedule, including the ability to work Saturdays
• Willingness to continuously learn and adapt to evolving automotive technologies
