Job summary

Actalent is seeking a Product Engineer in Farmington Hills, MI to drive development and optimization of cooling components and heat exchangers within a global automotive systems framework. You will lead cross-functional teams across design, testing, and suppliers to translate customer needs into robust hardware and validated performance.

The role demands 5+ years in automotive product development, DVP&R expertise, and strong thermodynamics/heat transfer knowledge with direct EGR/iCAC experience.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering is required.
• 5+ years of automotive product development experience.
• DVP&R development/maintenance experience.
• Knowledge of thermodynamics, heat transfer, and fluid dynamics.
• Ability to lead cross-functional technical activities with customers, suppliers, engineering, and test teams.

Responsibilities

• Lead product development and optimization of iCAC and EGR cooling components.
• Coordinate product concept, design, development, and release activities.
• Translate customer requirements into technical product requirements.
• Define thermal capacities and technical requirements for heat exchanger components.
• Create and execute DVP&R and coordinate validation activities with the test lab.
• Perform 1D simulations for heat exchanger applications.
• Support component-level DFMEA activities.
• Lead design reviews and drawing evaluations, including specification and GD&T compliance.
• Support production trials and customer PPAP.
• Coordinate BOMs, 3D models, 2D drawings, and technical deliverables.
• Serve as a technical liaison between customers, suppliers, local teams, and Stuttgart Engineering.
• Support cost reduction, warranty, industrialization, launch, and production activities.
