Job summary

Thomas & Reed, LLC is seeking a Technician Level 2 to support automotive chassis dynamometer testing, sensor installation, and instrumentation setup. The role emphasizes hands-on testing, data capture, and parts changes under supervision.

Responsibilities include high-temperature testing, offsite prep in extreme conditions, and collaboration with engineers on road tests and weather-related trials. Travel and overtime are required; a two-year electronics or automotive background is expected.

Qualifications

Two year degree in electronics or automotive background.
Experience with data acquisition hardware and software.
Welding/fabrication skills.

Responsibilities

High temperature chassis dynamometer test and prep.
Assist with installation of thermocouples on a wide variety of automobile components, installing harnesses, data acquisition and vehicle mockup using prototype parts (this will be 90% of time).
Assist in part changes during chassis dynamometer testing.
Hot weather field testing.
Prepare vehicles for offsite testing in extreme temperature locations, including installation of new parts, thermocouple installation, data acquisition, installation and pre-test equipment checks.
Assist engineer with test by driving or operating data acquisition on public roads.
Make part changes for testing as needed.
Water fording test and setup.
Prepare for test by using setup sheet and installing instrumentation as necessary.
May be asked to perform testing after proper training.
Snow ingress prep and test, including part changes and tests.
Electronics capability of designing, constructing and repairing wire harnesses for testing; maintaining test equipment.
Assist with other testing and vehicle preps as needed.
