About the Role

Our client, a prominent automotive manufacturer, is seeking a dedicated Automotive Test Automation Engineer to enhance their product development lifecycle. This role is essential for designing, developing, and implementing automated test frameworks and scripts to ensure the quality and reliability of automotive software and systems. You will work closely with development and QA teams to integrate automated testing into the continuous integration pipeline. This hands‑on position is based at our state‑of-the‑art facility in East London, Eastern Cape, ZA , providing a collaborative and innovative work environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and implement automated test frameworks for automotive software and hardware.
• Develop and maintain automated test scripts using various programming languages (e.g., Python, C++, CAPL).
• Integrate automated tests into the CI/CD pipeline to ensure rapid feedback.
• Analyze test results, identify defects, and report issues clearly to development teams.
• Collaborate with software developers and system engineers to define test strategies.
• Develop test procedures for component, integration, and system‑level testing.
• Maintain and update test automation tools and environments.
• Contribute to the continuous improvement of testing methodologies and processes.
• Ensure test coverage meets project requirements and quality standards.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
• 3-5 years of experience in test automation, specifically within the automotive industry.
• Proficiency in scripting and programming languages such as Python, C++, or CAPL.
• Experience with test automation tools and frameworks relevant to automotive testing (e.g., Vector tools, Jenkins, TestStand).
• Solid understanding of software testing principles and methodologies.
• Familiarity with automotive communication protocols (e.g., CAN, LIN, Automotive Ethernet).
• Experience with version control systems (e.g., Git).
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
• Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
• Knowledge of HIL (Hardware‑in‑the‑Loop) testing is a significant advantage.
