Job summary

Porter and Chester Institute in Worcester, MA is seeking an Automotive Instructor to bring real-world shop experience into the classroom. No teaching experience required; we provide curriculum, training, and support to help you transition from the repair bay to instruction.

You'll teach hands-on repair and diagnostic skills, mentor students, prepare them for ASE certifications, and work with an experienced education team.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Hands-on automotive repair experience required.
• ASE certifications required within 6–12 months of hire.
• Strong knowledge of diagnostics, electrical systems, engine performance and repair procedures.
• Ability to work independently and manage your day.
• Strong communication and organization skills.

Responsibilities

• Teach hands-on automotive repair and diagnostic skills using real vehicles and shop equipment.
• Demonstrate proper safety procedures, tool usage, and repair techniques.
• Share troubleshooting strategies and workflow best practices.
• Mentor students at various skill levels from entry to advanced.
• Prepare students for ASE and state certifications where applicable.
• Participate in paid training and ongoing professional development.
• Work independently while receiving support from an experienced education team.
