Job summary

University Volkswagen Seattle is seeking an Automotive Technician to diagnose, repair, and service vehicles in the Volkswagen Service Department. The successful candidate will work closely with the Service Manager and team, performing repairs, inspections, and routine maintenance with accuracy and efficiency.

We value safety, quality workmanship, and a professional attitude. A valid driver's license and a willingness to purchase personal tools are required.

Qualifications

• One year experience in the automotive repair industry as a technician or mechanic is preferred.
• ASE certifications are a plus.
• High school diploma or GED required.
• Possessor willing to purchase your own tools.

Responsibilities

• Complete service and repair assignments correctly in the specified timeframe, ensuring repairs pass quality inspections and test drives.
• Diagnose and correct mechanical and electrical problems in accordance with manufacturer specifications.
• Explain technical diagnoses and needed repairs to non-technical individuals which may include other teammates and customers as required.
• Use manuals, computer systems, and technical bulletins to complete the repair order.
• Stays up to date on the latest technical services and all information pertinent to the Automotive Technician position through trainings, bulletins, campaigns, etc.
• Maintains a clean and well-organized work area; performs preventative maintenance, cleaning, and repairs on dealership tools and equipment.
• Always maintains safe working practices and abides by working rules and standards; follows all hazardous waste and OSHAsafety regulations and company policies.
• Coordinates with parts department to ensure parts are available to complete repair; properly disposes of used parts and returns unused parts to the parts person or location.
• Promotes the dealership by always presenting a professional image and positive attitude; demonstrates commitment to other staff, customers, dealership, and company.
• Works collaboratively with internal and external customers/provides technical assistance and support to team members as needed.
