Job summary

Lexus of Birmingham, a Sonic Automotive family dealership, is seeking an Automotive Technician to perform vehicle repair and maintenance per dealer and factory standards. Role includes supervising apprentices, attending training, and maintaining a clean, safe shop environment.

Salary ranges from $20.00 to $40.00 per hour with eligibility for bonus pay after 6 months. Full-time schedule, Sundays off, 401k with match, PTO, and employee discounts are among the benefits.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or the equivalent.
• ASE or manufacturing training.
• Valid driver’s license and a good driving record.
• All applicants must be authorized to work in the USA.

Responsibilities

• Receive repair orders from dispatcher and take to stall area.
• Perform work as outlined on repair order with efficiency and accuracy per standards.
• Diagnose causes of malfunctions and perform repairs.
• Communicate with parts department to obtain needed parts.
• Save and tag parts if under warranty or at customer request.
• Examine the vehicle to determine if extra safety or service work is needed.
• Notify service advisor if additional work is not needed or cannot be completed as promised.
• Document work performed and road-test vehicles when required.
• Supervise apprentice technicians and attend factory training classes.
• Keep shop area neat and tools accounted for; follow safety policies.
