Job summary

Pep Boys Inc. is seeking a skilled Automotive Technician to inspect, diagnose, and repair tire and automotive services while delivering excellent customer service. You will explain repairs to customers and coworkers, stay updated with evolving automotive tech, and mentor junior staff.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED, 1+ year of hands-on experience, ASE certifications preferred, and a valid driver's license. A strong safety mindset and ability to work flexible hours are essential.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• 1 year of strong automotive mechanical diagnosis, problem-solving and repair experience.
• 2+ ASE certifications preferred (A4 Steering and Suspension & A5 Brakes).
• Section 609 certification preferred.
• State Inspection license if applicable.
• Valid driver’s license required.
• Pre-employment background check.
• Availability to work days, nights, holidays, and weekends.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and repair to specifications — brake and hydraulic, exhaust, basic electrical, cooling system, suspension and alignment.
• Perform job duties of all lower job descriptions (Mechanic and General Service Technician).
• Explain technical diagnoses and needed repairs to non-mechanical individuals.
• Continuously learn new technical information and techniques in formal training sessions.
• Assist fellow technicians/mechanics in performing technical activities.
• Keep store management aware of mechanical repair problems as they occur.
• Maintain an organized and neat shop.
• Adhere to all company policies, procedures, safety and environmental rules.
