Job summary

AutoNation Auction division seeks an Auction Skilled Technician to inspect and repair vehicles per AutoNation Auction standards. The role requires diagnosing malfunctions, performing repairs with approval, and maintaining detailed work orders.

Candidates should have 2+ years automotive experience or a 2-year Auto Tech program, plus strong diagnostic tool knowledge and a valid driver's license. Manual transmission ability preferred.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• At least two years automotive experience or completion of a 2-year Auto Technology program plus one year verifiable experience as an automotive technician.
• Strong knowledge of diagnostic software and scan tools.
• Must have a valid driver's license and ability to drive manual transmission vehicles.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose the cause of malfunction and note recommendations on inspection sheet.
• Perform needed repairs upon approval from Management.
• Communicate with Auction Inspection Manager about parts needed.
• Record all work to be performed and complete the work order in the Auction System as soon as the job is complete.
• Stay current in the latest diagnostic methods and service techniques.

Job description

The Auction Skilled Technician possesses a strong mechanical knowledge of all basic systems of a vehicle. The Auction Skilled Technician is responsible for performing vehicle inspections and repair as assigned in accordance with AutoNation Auction standards.

Pay Range

The annual salary for this position is between $22/flag - $32.25/flag. Factors which may affect pay within this range include, but are not limited to, skills, education, experience, and other unique qualifications of the successful candidate.

What are the day-to-day responsibilities?

• Diagnose the cause of malfunction and be able to note recommendations on inspection sheet.
• Perform needed repairs upon approval from Management.
• Communicate with Auction Inspection Manager about parts needed.
• Performing work with efficiency and accuracy.
• Examining the vehicle to determine if additional safety or service work is required.
• Record all work to be performed and complete the work order in the Auction System as soon as the job is complete.
• Stay current in the latest diagnostic methods and service techniques for the vehicles.
• Become familiar with latest bulletins, service manuals and other service publications.
• Communicate regularly with Auction Inspection Manager to confirm repair information and diagnostic information.
• Follow federal, state and local regulations such as the disposal of hazardous waste.

What are the requirements for this job?

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• At least two years automotive experience or completion of a 2-year Auto Technology program plus one (1) year verifiable experience as an automotive technician.
• Strong knowledge of diagnostic software and scan tools.
• Working knowledge of electrical systems and ability to troubleshoot basic to moderate issues.
• Proficiency in diagnosing and repairing a wide range of mechanical and drivability issues.
• Ability to read and comprehend written instructions and information.
• Must have a valid driver's license.
• Ability to drive manual transmission vehicles.
• Manual dexterity, good judgment and ability to operate power and hand tools and other types of machinery safely.
