Job summary

Suburban Automotive Service is seeking a Vehicle Scrap Technician to prepare scrap vehicles for monthly crushing and to ensure safety and efficiency at the Milford facility.

The role requires forklift operation, tire and battery handling, and the ability to work in varying conditions inside a garage and outdoors. Candidates should be 21+, possess a valid license, and be mechanically inclined.

Qualifications

• Must have a valid driver's license and clean driving record.
• Must be at least 21 years old to drive company vehicles at Milford Proving Grounds.
• It must be mechanically inclined.
• Must be a self-starter and be able to work independently.
• Must be a reliable team player.
• Forklift certified or willing to acquire certification.

Responsibilities

• Remove tires, wheels, and batteries, including removal and crating of batteries when necessary.
• Break down the tires from the rim.
• Operate a forklift and conduct daily inspections.
• Move vehicles while operating a forklift.
• Adhere to Suburban Automotive Service's DRIVEN values and align business practices to support the SAS mission and vision.

As a Vehicle Scrap Technician, you will be responsible for preparing scrap vehicles for the monthly crush.

SalaryOverview: The pay rate for this role starts at $18 per hour based on experience.

Hours:

The hours for this role are Monday through Friday 6am to 2:30pm.

Vehicle Scrap Technician Responsibilities include:

Vehicle Scrap Technician Working Conditions and Physical Demands include:

• Exposure to fumes, chemicals, and automotive liquids.
• There is no air conditioning inside the shop area.
• This position is performed both inside a garage and outside, so weather conditions may include extreme heat and cold.
• This position is continually active and requires standing, walking, bending, twisting, kneeling, stooping, and crouching all day.
• Must frequently lift and move items up to 40 lbs.
• Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
