Job Description:

UPS is currently seeking a reliable Automotive Technician to join our outstanding fleet maintenance team. The technician will maintain a diverse range of equipment, including delivery vehicles, heavy-duty on-road tractors, and trailers from various manufacturers. Powered vehicle propulsion includes diesel, gasoline, and alternative technology power plants (including compressed natural gas, liquefied natural gas, propane, hybrid, and electrical in some locations). Automotive Technicians must be skilled in troubleshooting and maintaining systems such as hydraulic brakes, air brakes, electrical, and engine control.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Meets D.O.T. requirements and CDL qualifications required by job assignment
  • Bends, squats, kneels, climbs ladders and stairs, stands, walks, and pivots frequently throughout the workday
  • Sits infrequently, as required, throughout the workday
  • Uses simple hand grasping, power hand grasping, fine hand manipulation, and reaching from foot level to above shoulder level to complete tasks
  • Operates standard and manual transmission
  • Operates power and pneumatic tools

Requirements

  • Must have an active driver’s license issued by the state
  • NY State Inspection License – REQUIRED or must be obtained within the first 60 days of employment.
  • Willing to work 2nd or 3rd shifts, Monday through Friday
  • Possesses a full set of personal hand tools

Knowledge and Skills

  • Current documented automotive mechanical experience
  • Three to five years of automotive maintenance experience
  • Experience with diagnostic equipment, scan tools, and personal computers
  • Class B Commercial Driver's License (CDL) – PREFERRED
  • Works full-time shifts: 8 hours per day
  • Dependable with regular and timely attendance
  • Wears personal protective equipment as required
  • Works in environments with variable temperatures, humidity, exposure to chemicals, dust, dirt, noise, and inclement weather
  • Works cooperatively in a diverse environment
  • Communicates effectively to perform tasks and maintain safety

Pay Range:

The starting pay rate for this union-represented position is $36.74/hr. Benefits include weekly pay, training, growth opportunities, 401(k), pension, medical/dental/vision coverage after probation, paid leave, holidays, education assistance, and stock purchase programs.
